Hola! My name is Erica Lynne Cook and I’m one of the new writers for BC NOW! I am a transfer student from Jefferson Community and Technical College in Louisville, Kentucky. Currently, I’m a second semester sophomore double majoring in Communications and Spanish.
Oh, and coffee rocks my socks.
An interesting fact about me is that I was born in Florida but at the age of 8, I moved to Costa Rica. I lived there for 12 years with my mother. It was one of the best experiences of my life because I learned a lot about culture in a third world country and about myself as well.
I discovered my passion for writing and photography at an early age. Being an only child and living away from family most of my life was difficult. So, I found comfort in writing down my thoughts, mostly in the form of poetry. Later I discovered my love for photography. Pictures simply make me happy.
I chose to attend Berea College because of its great commitments, the all around feel of the campus, the small classes, the labor program, the study abroad program and of course the scholarships they offer to their students. Let’s just say I fell in love with it all. And yes, I did get a tattoo on my arm the Berea College motto from the Bible “God has made of one blood all peoples of the earth”. I am inspired.
