| New MyBerea Portal Goes Live
After many months of planning and anticipation, the new myBerea portal system will be going up online the week of February 18th.
The homepage for the new myBerea portal.
Dr. John Lympany, the CIO of the IS&S department on campus announced recently announced the release date to the campus. The myBerea portal is a “Virtual Learning Community” that will provide students the tools for learning, academic progression and a more efficient way to access personal information online. Once a student is logged into the myBerea portal, which can be done at the link below, they are able to view their BOND information with just a few clicks of their mouse. Included in this section are the student’s own academic, labor and convocation requirements, account balances and holds.
One of the most exciting aspects of this new feature is the high level of accessibility and convenience that the portal provides for students as well as staff. After logging in with their normal user-names and passwords, a homepage for the portal will open, which lists a series of channels and tabs including important announcements both personal and campus-wide. Also, everyone will be able to click a simple button at the top of the page and reach their e-mail, Blackboard and a full calendar of campus events, none of which require a second log-in.
There are other resources available within the portal. The campus directory is available on command; anyone at Berea College may be found with a simple name search. In the learning fields, students can find not only their convocation assessments as mentioned above, but can also view their grades here and can also print a copy of their transcript from here as well.
Finally, as an added bonus, the portal homepage even provides links to popular social networking sites like Facebook and Myspace. Overall, the new myBerea portal is combining everything that is essential to the unique learning experience at Berea College and placing it all in one easy-to-access site that will make everyone’s busy lives on campus a little simpler.
