| Summer (of Love) Reunion 2008
The theme for this year’s Summer Reunion was “A Walk Down Memory Lane”, for some Berea alumni it was truly just that. This year’s Summer Reunion was not only about recognizing important alumnus and supporters of Berea College, but it was a weekend filled with love. Alumnus gathered with old classmates and their spouses and some renewed their wedding vows.
Dr. Buelon Moss, Mrs.Hilda Karlsson Roderick, and Mr. Bill Bowman
For Mr. and Mrs. Mohummadia, ’79, attending this year’s Summer Reunion was like stepping back in time three decades. “When we arrived on campus I felt like I was reliving old times, there was a radio station playing all 70’s music,” said Mrs. Dena Mohummadian. “Berea College truly played a major role in our relationship, we met here our freshmen year and were married in Danforth Chapel and we had our reception in the Fireside Room. Just being back on campus brought back memories, being able to look around campus and see that not much has changed is almost like dejavue.”
Other activities for the weekend included a live performance of singing and poetry reading by notable alumnus Billy Edd Wheeler, ’55., Also, the Alumni Awards Reception recognized distinguished guests Dr. Buelon Moss ’60, Bill Bowman, and Hilda Karlsson Roderick ‘48 for their contributions and dedication to Berea College.
“Berea College along with its emphasis on serving students from Appalachian and sticking to its primary mission is a top notch school,” says Bowman. “I’m impressed the students that I meet here at Berea College, and I’m pleased to be apart of such a great place.”Bowman was the recieptant of the Honary Alumnus Award for his contributions to Berea College.
