| Candy Is National Player of the Week
Senior forward Candy Walls has been selected as the NAIA Women’s Basketball Division II Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 25, 2009. She earned the honor for the second consecutive week.
Walls, a native of Stanton, Ky., averaged 30.0 points and 15.0 rebounds in two road wins for the Mountaineers last week. She scored 31 points, cleared 16 rebounds and handed out six assists against UC Clermont and then recorded 29 points and 14 rebounds against Midway (Ky.). Walls also averaged 4.0 assists during the week.
Earlier this year Walls broke two school records while her team hosted St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Jan. 17. She set a new high-scoring mark of 51 points in a game. After hitting 12 three pointers, she also established a new record for the most three pointers made in a game.
