In a segment aired on the first day of the new decade, Leonard of the "Today Show" explores the unique qualities of both Berea the college and the town that would ensure their survival.
Leonard refers to journalist Lawrence Joseph's book which predicts that, of all possible locations, Berea has the best chance to survive the widespread catastrophe of the end of time. "Apocalypse 2012: A Scientific Investigation Into Civilization's End" (Amazon) cites Berea College's spiritual and sustainable values and the town's environmental efforts as some of the chief reasons for survival as the world runs out of resources and into doom.
