The first episode of the Berea-produced TV series "Head of the Holler" featuring renowned author Silas House aired on KET network.
Silas House on "Head of the Holler."
In the 30-minute show, House discussed growing up in Eastern Kentucky, the changes he has seen, the inspiration for his novels, and his struggle to protect his own holler. House also read and discussed excerpts from his novels.
Hosted by the Director of the Loyal Jones Appalachian Center Dr. Chad Berry, "Head of the Holler" will explore issues related to Appalachia. Future guests for the show include Dr. William Turner, scholar of African American and Appalachian history; Mimi Pickering, filmmaker; and Pat Banks, artists and teacher.
