John GoodFriddle Theater Company Exits Stage Right

The student theater company signs off with its final performance of the popular holiday comedy "Christmas 209b: The Revival".

Returning to Phelps Stokes on Thursday and Friday December 9 and 10, the doors open at 7:30 with show time at 8:00. Troupe founders Clay Goodpasture and Jonas Friddle will join newcomer Clinton Hines for a comedy that according to the group's press release "gives the audience a fresh glimpse at what the holiday is truly about." Set in Bethel, TN the story centers around the calamity of the 25th Annual Nativity scene contest. As the story unfolds, characters find holiday spirit through competition, eventual incarceration, and, of course, hilarity.

Both founding members graduate this December and, for Goodpasture, "Christmas 209b" seemed like an appropriate finale. "We are bringing [it] back because of the overwhelming response two years ago [and] we wanted to do one last show in Berea." The original play included the third founding member, Greg Johns who graduated in 2003. Like the 2002 performance, this year's play also includes live jazz throughout, music from members of the concert choir, and art by fellow graduating senior Rueben Smith.

The John GoodFriddle theater company was formed in fall 2002 with its debut production of "An Evening of Theater". Subsequently, the group has produced "Christmas 209b", "Love is a Time of Day", and "Orphans". In addition, the group has performed extensive community service by providing workshops at the Berea Arts Council and Foley Middle School. “The unique compilation of talent" as well as the bittersweet sentiment of JGF's final encore makes this show a must see.
