| Homecoming Games Tip-off B-ball Season
The Homecoming festivities came to a climax on Saturday, November 5, as the Lady Mountaineers battled it out against the ladies from UV-Wise, and the Mountaineers played against Berea College rivals, Milligan College.
The Mountaineers flew by the Buffaloes with a score of 76-68.
The Lady Mountaineers were up first. The ladies remained down much of the first half, even with their string of three point shots midway through the first half. By halftime, they were down 35 - 54. The Berea College dance team, F.Y.A.H., fired things up during halftime and got the crowd ready to cheer on the ladies in the second half. Despite an early attempt to rally in the second half, the Lady Mountaineers lost their game with a score of 88 -103.
Following a break between the two games, the Mountaineers took the court against the sizable Milligan College Buffaloes. Though the Buffaloes seemed domineering in size, the Mountaineers had no trouble in setting an intense and fast pace. By halftime, the Mountaineers were giving the Buffaloes a workout with a score of 40-16. After the halftime performance by the Berea College cheerleaders, and the coronation of the Homecoming Court, the Mountaineers came back out on the court to keep up the lead. Despite a slight injury, sustained by number 42, Tomas Klimas, the Mountaineers went on to victory with a score of 76-68.
The Lady Mountaineers are set to play Monday night, November 7, against Martin Methodist. The Mountaineers will play next in the Berea Pepsi/Sodexho Invitational on November 11 and 12. Stay tuned to BC-Now for stats and scores from the upcoming games.
