| Men's Soccer Puts Their Best Feet Forward
They were young, and they were hurt, but despite suffering a disappointing 4-11 record, the Berea College men's soccer team worked hard this past season to lay a stronger foundation for next season.

Although the team did not have a winning record, the players "kept their heads up and fought till the end," says Team Captain Mzwandile Ginindza, who was named to the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference 2nd team. Injuries proved to have an unwanted impact this year as players were forced to play in new positions to compensate. With more than half the team freshman and sophomores, youth and inexperience were factors in a difficult season.
These players included Jonathan Hunt, Joe Saleem, Evan Robinson, and Gonzalo Garcia who turned out to be the team's leading goal scorer. Garcia, a freshman from Uruguay "has shown stamina and has proved to play like a senior even in those games where everything seemed wrong," said sophomore Enrique Garcia.
Ginindza, who faced the challenge of rehabilitating a broken leg to play this year, believes this season's struggles will forge next season's success as inexperienced rookies become more seasoned veterans. "We are hoping to get some rest, catch up with school and start thinking about a better season next fall," says Ginindza.
