Open to faculty, staff, and students, the decorating took place on November 30, December 1, and December 2, and was judged by guests during the Christmas Open House on December 3. The winners were announced on December 6. Some supplies, such as wrapping paper and ribbons, were provided, but the rest were brought in by contestants for their own use.
The first place prize of $100 went to Jessica Slagle and Corinne Yates for their "Gingerbread Man Christmas Town" on door #312. Krista Bowler's "Twas the NIght Before Christmas" theme on #205 won the second place prize of dinner for two at Boone Tavern. Dorothy and Rebecca Brown's "Candyland Christmas" on #204 won a night's stay at Boone Tavern for placing third.
