| Congolese Presbyterian Visits BC's Work Program
Dr. Mulumba Mukundi, General Secretary of the Presbyterian Church of the Congo and head of UPRECO, the Presbyterian University of the Congo, made a brief stop on Berea’s campus on June 22, to see and hear more about Berea’s labor program.

Dr. Mukundi, who came to the U.S. to attend the Presbyterian General Assembly in Birmingham, was accompanied by Thomas and Janet Sullivan, short-term missionaries to the Congo from Evanston, Illinois, and by Mrs. Mukundi.
The group met with Berea’s Labor Program staff, took a tour of Berea’s craft industries, and met with the Campus Christian Center to discuss Berea’s historic concern for the unity of races.
Dr. Mukundi was on campus to learn how students could be more fully involved in the life at his institution, much as Berea’s students are involved with the everyday running of Berea’s campus.
“We are just trying to learn,” said Dr. Mukundi. “We want to see if we can use [the labor program] and how we can use it.”
Dr. Mukundi sees Berea as a guidepost college for work-study programs.
“I have heard very good things about Berea College,” said Dr. Mukundi. “We have enjoyed our stay.”
