Harkleroad Named Coach of the Year; four Berea College players named to KIAC All-Conference Teams;

Berea College women's basketball coach Bunky Harkleroad was named as the KIAC Coach of the Year for the second time in the last four years. During his fourth season as head coach, the Lady Mountaineers won a school-year 21 games, finishing 21-9 overall, surpassing the old record of 17 wins set in 1980. The team broke several national records during the year. During Thursday’s KIAC tournament game against Asbury College, the Lady Mountaineers set another NAIA national record, for most three point goals scored in a game (24).

Coach Bunky Harkleroad and his team finished the season 21-9, a school record.

Harkleroad is a graduate of Berea Community School and Berea College.

Five Berea players were also named All-Conference. Mountaineer Charles Marshall, a senior from Louisville, was named to the Men’s KIAC All-Conference Team and sophomore Melvin Brown, of Louisville, received Honorable Mention.

Lady Mountaineers Brittany Carr, a sophomore from Sand Gap and Rebecca May, a freshman from Waynesburg, were named Women’s lst team KIAC All-Conference, with Honorable Mention going to junior Morrisa Benberry, of Louisville.

May also broke the College record for most three point goals scored in a game (8) during the women’s Thursday game against Asbury College.
