Despite a losing record (2-17) halfway through the season, first year coach A. Maines says his young team (six freshman, two sophomores, and five juniors) has a strong motivation and competitive attitude that should translate into wins in the future.
Despite their record, several players are performing well this season. Freshman pitcher/first baseman Chad Warner has set a new team record for most consecutive hits in a season (11). Other talented underclassmen, including freshman outfielder Ryan Wilson and freshman shortstop/pitcher Dewey Williams make the team's future promising. Says Maines, "There are good things to come."
The team now goes on the road for three games. On 4/7, the team will play EKU at 3 p.m. On 4/9, the team plays Mid-Continent College at 3 p.m., followed by a double-header on 4/10 at 1 p.m. The team then returns home for a double-header against Cumberland College on 4/13 at 4 p.m.
