B.A. Major in Applied Science and Mathematics
Requirements for the Major
A major in Applied Science and Mathematics is achieved by completion of the following requirements, in addition to the General Education and electives required for a degree:
Required Core Courses
MAT 135 (or waiver), 225 (or waiver), 330, 437, PHY 315, 316, CHM 131, and 311
Required Capstone Course
One (1) course, which must be approved by the Dual Degree Engineering Advisor.
Under most circumstances, this will be an upper-level engineering course taken at an accredited engineering institution, but it also might be an appropriate Internship, or other approved capstone-level course.
Required Distribution Courses
Three (3) additional course credits, chosen from ANR, BIO, CHM, CSC, MAT, PHY, SENS, or TAD, all of which will be applicable to a single engineering specialty and approved by the Dual Degree Engineering Advisor. Approved courses include:

- Chemical Engineering—CSC 226, CHM 221, CHM 222, CHM 311, CHM 361, CHM 362
- Civil Engineering—PHY 225, PHY 386, PHY 481, TAD 180, TAD 330
- Computer Engineering—PHY 225, CSC 226, CSC 236, CSC 325, CSC 440, CSC 435
- Electrical Engineering—CSC 226, CSC 236, CSC 435, PHY 225, PHY 460, TAD 265
- Materials Engineering:—CHM 221, CHM 311, PHY 225, PHY 320, PHY 365, PHY 485
- Mechanical Engineering—PHY 225, PHY 365, PHY 386, PHY 481, TAD 180, TAD 330
- Mining Engineering—CHM 311, CHM 361, PHY 225, PHY 365, PHY 386, TAD 180
