Minor in Sustainability and Environmental Studies
Requirements for the Minor
The minor in Sustainability and Environmental Studies requires five (5) course credits and a noncredit Experiential Learning Project, as follows:
Required Core Course
SENS 100
Required Capstone Course
SENS 460
Required Distribution Courses
Three (3) additional course credits chosen outside the student's major discipline and from the following two groups with at least one from each group. With approval from the appropriate committee, other courses, including specific offerings germane to SENS learning objectives that were taken in the former Short Terms, as well as courses in Summer terms, may be used to meet a Group I or Group II requirement.
Group I
Natural Science: ANR 130, 340, 360; BIO 110, 114, 342, 344; CHM 134; or SENS 310
Group II
Other Disciplines: APS 229; ECO 102, 341, 370; MAT 108; PHI 104; PSC 250; SOC 110; SENS 215 (also APS), SENS 225 (also AFR/APS/PSJ/WGS), SENS 320, 340, and 345
Required Experiential Learning Project (noncredit course)
Must have completed SENS 100 and be pre-approved by the SENS Program Coordinator; project normally occurs beyond the classroom setting, may be on or off campus, and will involve students in activities central to SENS learning objectives. Projects may take the form of Internships, student-faculty undergraduate research projects, service-learning projects, or student Labor Positions.
