Minor in Theatre
Requirements for the Major
A minor in Theatre encourages students to explore theatre studies and practice that focuses on creative and intellectual interest and curiosity and meets student need. The minor is intentionally combined with the student's major to contribute to 1) the development of creative and applied skills that prepare the student for their choice of career and future educational goals; 2) the student's training in theatrical practice that seeks to mimic professional standards of production; and 3) a formal academic credential for those interested in pursuing Theatre courses as a significant part of their undergraduate education.
Required Core Courses
THR 105 and one course from THR 115, 124 or 213
Required Distribution Course
Three (3) additional THR courses selected by the student in consultation with the academic advisor for het mionr. Two (2) or more must be at or above the 200 level.
Requirements to Minor in Theatre:
A “C” or higher is required in THR 105;
N omore than two (2) credits can be transferred to meet the requirements including those gained from study abroad;
Three (3) additional THR courses. Two or more must be at the 200-level or higher.
Minor in Film Production
Required Core Courses
(3)—THR 135; THR 331; THR 332 (331 & 332 offered in alternate years)
Required Distribution Course
Two(2) additional courses to be selected by the student with careful faculty advising from the list below. At least one (1) course needs to be at or above the 200 level.
TAD 180: Graphic Communication
TAD 202: Photography
- ENG 220: Studies in Film
- THR 220: Seminar in Design and Production
- THR 202: Acting for Film
- THR 317: Principles of Directing
Other courses and special topics that would meet student needs selected by careful faculty advising
Requirements to Minor in Film Production:
Students must interview with the a Theatre faculty member
A “C” or higher is required in THR 135 for successful completion of the minor
No more than two (2) credits, including those gained from study abroad, may be transferred to meet minor requirements.
No core course may be transferred.
