James Atkinson is the Director of Career Development and the Co-Director of the Center for Transformative Learning at Berea College. He previously worked in the Career Development Center and taught for the College of Education at the University of Louisville. Prior to that, he spent 20 years in industry with Ford Motor Company, UPS and various law firms. He is working on his doctorate in Educational Leadership & Organizational Development at UofL, earned his Master's degree from EKU and a Bachelor's degree from Kentucky Wesleyan College. He is a Certified Global Career Development Facilitator Instructor (University of Wisconsin-Madison) and is a first gen college graduate. His family hails from Harlan County, but he was the first member born in Louisville. He is excited to help Berea students and graduates make career decisions and prepare for the world of work. He will: beat you in a competitive eating challenge! He will not: wear a tie with a short sleeve shirt.
