Cover Letters

  • Cover letters introduce you and explain your interest in their position. These are sent to employers along with your résumés. They provide an opportunity to offer employers insight to your personality through your writing style and communication skills. Think of this as a writing sample!
  • Each cover letter should be written specifically for each individual position and organization.
  • The cover letter is as important in the job search process as the résumé, but is usually overlooked. Don’t get lazy! Craft a meaningful cover letter that doesn’t simply regurgitate what is on the résumé. Be creative and highlight your key offerings to the employer.
